Hello, Fellow Blogsters. This new site is taking some getting used to, huh? I hope this posts.
Just came home Tuesday from 8 days in Tucson with Robert. It was so good to be with my beloved husband and just hang out. I cleaned and cooked and did laundry and took good care of him when he had his Evil Medical Test. It's only fair, since he often takes care of me when I get sick. We met some nice people, had dinner at a very fancy restaurant, even looked at a few open houses in Tucson, Marana, and Oro Valley. It rained quite a bit over the weekend, so we skipped going to the zoo.
Dillinger isn't quite sure having a Mommy is such a good thing, since it means that he has to share what he considers to be his half of the bed. Not to mention sharing Robert's attention. But he did seem to like curling up in my lap. Silkie let me brush her fur a little bit, and clearly remembers me. She's just as temperamental and beautiful as ever.
The restaurant we went to was Acacia, and the chef has won the Tucson Iron Chef competition for the past two years. I ordered a tasting menu, and everything was oishii. We had good service, and the couple we dined with were friendly and interesting. They are friends of a friend, and used to live here on the Central Coast.
We also had lunch with the nephew of one of my former colleagues, and he brought his portfolio for us to look at. He's agifted painter and photographer. Fascinating person; he spent nine years as a Carmelite monk. I've never met anyone quite like him before.
I had coffee Monday with a possible new friend from the Tucson Newcomers Club. Coincidentally, her daughter lives less than 5 miles away from me in Califonria. That was fun, and we plan on getting together again in March when she visits her daughter and grandson. I'm still not used to having contemporaries who are grandmothers. In my heart of hearts, I'll be 19 forever.
Robert let me drive during my visit, as I need to learn my way around the Tucson street grid, and get used to driving in city traffic again. I've pretty much gotten my bearings now.
Met a real estate agent I liked; don't know what Robert thought of her. We have a nieghborhood picked out, near a huge park with walking and bike trails, and not far from the Oro Valley library (a really big, good library -- Robert already has a library card there). Maybe 5-6 miles from his office. The housing market in Arizona is collapsing, so we will have fine opportunities when we're ready to buy a house.
Drank instant coffee while at Robert's apartment, as I can't justify putting a coffeemaker, grinder, beans, etc in a temporary apartment when he himself doesn't even drink coffee. The nicest part of coming home is my own fresh ground brewed coffee.
